6″ Gear Motor Drive Tilt

This cradle tilt system is compatible with our Standard Spur Gear Motors. The tilt framework is constructed of 1/4” ABS plastic side plates tied together using aluminium Actobotics components. The height of the cradle is adjustable by moving the motor and bearing mounts up or down the outside cradle. The inside height is also adjustable so that you can properly center the mass of the object to be tilted about the axis of rotation.

The camera plate has numerous 1/4” width slots so that you can balance the mass of the object to be tilted in the forward and aft direction. This open loop system is an excellent choice for photographers and videographers using small video cameras or still cameras weighing in under 2 lbs with a body width of 6” or less. The wide selection of gearmotors will allow you to tailor the speed of the tilt system to match your application.

To vary the speed of the tilt system, you can use a speed controller. The Direct Drive Gearmotor 4” Cradle Tilt can be mounted to other Actobotics components that utilize the .770” or 1.50” hub pattern with the included 6-32 x 1/4” pan head screws. This tilt can be configured in the overhead or underslung position. The inside cradle has no range limitation (it can rotate a full 360 degrees). The motor is fastened to the outside cradle with the 555188 motor mount and attached to the inside cradle with a 6mm bore set-screw hub. The opposing side is supported by an aluminium shaft that protrudes through 1/4” ball bearing and captured with a 1/4” shaft clamp. Comes in kit form. Motor to use with the Direct Drive Gearmotor 4” Cradle Tilt: To calculate the speed of motor that you wish to install into your tilt system, think about how long you want it to take to rotate 180 degrees. The formula provided below will allow you to quickly figure the RPM motor needed to move 180 degrees in a given amount of time.
